Frequently Asked Questions
What is the schedule for a typical shooting day?
A typical shooting day begins with a meet-up at 8:30 AM in the car park of the Higher Buck, located at The Square, Waddington, Clitheroe, BB7 3HZ. From there, you will be escorted to the estate—a drive of approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Upon arrival, you’ll receive a full safety briefing and enjoy some light refreshments. Shooting activities commence at 9:30 AM and usually run through until 3:30 PM.
Where does this take place?
Our unique 2,000-acre estate is set in the stunning Forest of Bowland, Lancashire. The diverse terrain provides spectacular, challenging, and varied shooting opportunities.
What can I expect during the day?
Following the initial safety briefing covering rifle handling and a demonstration, you’ll engage in hands-on rifle experience. Beginning with smaller calibres and progressing to larger ones as you gain confidence, you’ll receive instruction on marksmanship fundamentals and explore external ballistics to improve your shooting abilities.
What special insights can I gain during the experience?
Throughout the day, our skilled instructor will divulge exclusive tips and secrets that have led to victory in FIVE UK NRA Championships. It’s a chance to glean knowledge from a seasoned expert in the field.
Do I need prior shooting experience?
No prior experience is necessary! With a background in training elite marksmen from the military and police, as well as beginners and enthusiasts, we tailor our coaching approach to accommodate your level of expertise. The exclusive nature of the experience enables you—and your friends, if preferred—to shape the day’s focus and pace. If recoil (rifle kickback) is a concern, we can customize the experience by adjusting the rifle’s weight to reduce impact. Your shooting experience is fully personalised.
What calibres can I shoot during this experience?
Our range allows calibres from .22LR to .338.
What is the distance of your range?
We have a wide variety of steel targets ranging from 100 metres all the way out to 1,610 metres (1 mile), offering a true long-range challenge.
Will there be breaks during the day?
Yes, indeed! We’ll pause for tea, coffee, delicious cake, and snacks to recharge and unwind. Following the break, personalised one-on-one instruction and coaching sessions will resume.
Can we do this as a group - what's the maximum?
Absolutely! We cater for group sizes ranging from 3 to 20 people. Just let us know your preference via the booking form, and we’ll ensure your shooting experience is tailored accordingly.
I don’t have a firearms certificate; can I still shoot?
Yes, you can. We will require you to sign a Section 21 declaration under the Firearms Act 1968. By signing, you declare that you are not a prohibited person to be in possession of firearms and ammunition.
Is there a minimum age requirement to participate?
Yes, participants must be at least 14 years old and have written permission from a parent or guardian.
Are there any additional costs for insurance on the day?
No, insurance is already included in the price.
Will this experience make me a sniper?
No, participating in this shooting experience will not make you a sniper. This is a unique and enjoyable shooting day designed for learning and fun. While you’ll receive expert instruction and insights, the focus is on creating a memorable and safe experience—not formal sniper training.
Will weather conditions impact our day?
Our shooting experiences are conducted from undercover facilities, ensuring you can enjoy the activity regardless of the weather. However, in rare cases of low visibility (e.g. fog), we may adjust the start time slightly, as conditions often improve later in the morning. If weather makes shooting impractical, we’ll work with you to reschedule. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities.
Are you open 7 days a week?
Yes, we operate 7 days a week.
Can we land a helicopter at the range?
Absolutely, yes! However, depending on the time of year, please give us advance notice if you plan to arrive by helicopter due to livestock and local wildlife.
